Overview

Iroquois Falls is a natural-gas-fired combined-cycle cogeneration plant located on the Abitibi River about 650 km north of Toronto and 80 km northeast of Timmins.

The plant sells process steam to a nearby Resolute Forest Products pulp and paper mill. Northland upgraded the original GE gas turbines to newer models in 2003. This increased power generation capacity by about 10%, improved the overall plant efficiency by about 3% and reduced NOx emissions by nearly 90%.
